What is Kybella?
KYBELLA ™ (Deoxycholic acid) is a naturally-occurring molecule in the body. As such, this aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. The FDA recently approved this treatment to reduce chin fullness and contour the jawline. Chin fullness affects adult women and men of all ages and weights. Multiple factors including age, genetics and weight impact our accumulation of fat. Thus, this treatment is known as ‘Liposuction in a syringe’ with little down time and permanent results. Kybella targets and destroys fat cells in the area it is injected. Once fat cells are destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat. Results are permanent in nature. Based on experience, most people require 3 vials per treatment at an interval of 6-8 weeks apart for an average of three sessions.
While Kybella is indicated for chin fullness, it has been used successfully off label for small body areas. In addition to the chin area, this treatment can reduce fat in small areas. Probably the most common off label areas are the knees, ankles, abdomen, bra fat and jowls. This is an easy in office treatment consisting of injections.
