Facial Redness

Facial Redness, Calmed

Persistent facial redness has a vascular cause. Skincare alone rarely reaches it. The right laser does.

Surface treatment for a vascular problem doesn't work.

What it is

Persistent facial redness is diffuse coloration that doesn't fade with skincare or hydration. It typically appears across the cheeks, nose, and central face, and reads more strongly under heat, exercise, alcohol, or emotional flushing.

The cause is vascular: dilated or hyperreactive capillaries beneath the skin's surface. Surface treatments can't reach them. Vascular laser can.

Why Patients Seek Treatment

Clients come in tired of compensating for visible redness with makeup. They've often tried calming skincare without significant change. Treatment that targets the underlying vasculature finally addresses the root cause.

01

What Causes It

Three main factors drive persistent redness.

Vascular sensitivity from genetics or sun damage. Some clients have naturally more reactive capillaries; sun exposure damages capillary structure over decades.

Inflammation from rosacea, sensitive skin, or barrier impairment. Chronic inflammation dilates capillaries persistently.

Trigger exposure from heat, alcohol, spicy food, sun, exercise, and stress. Each trigger flushes the face; repeated flushing trains the vessels to stay dilated.

02

Common Signs

Persistent redness typically affects the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. The color is most visible in the morning, after exercise, after alcohol, or in heated rooms.

Some clients have always been red. Others develop the redness gradually with age or sun exposure. Some have an underlying rosacea diagnosis; others have vascular sensitivity without classic rosacea features.

03

Why It Changes Over Time

Without treatment, persistent redness typically intensifies over decades. Sun damage adds to vascular sensitivity. Repeated flushing trains vessels to remain dilated.

With consistent treatment and trigger management, redness can be reduced significantly and maintained at a much lower baseline.

04

How It's Commonly Addressed

The industry treats persistent redness with vascular-specific lasers.

BBL with vascular settings targets diffuse redness across larger areas.

ClearV (Nd:YAG) targets discrete broken vessels and more concentrated redness.

Excel V or similar Nd:YAG/KTP devices target both diffuse and discrete vascular concerns.

Topicals like niacinamide and azelaic acid help maintain results between treatments.

How we approach facial redness

We start by assessing whether the redness is diffuse (broad areas) or discrete (specific visible vessels). Most clients have both.

For diffuse redness across the cheeks and central face, BBL with vascular filter is the primary tool. For discrete broken capillaries, ClearV targets specific vessels with precision.

Most plans use both across two to four sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Results show within a week of each session. Vessels typically don't return after successful clearance, though new redness can develop with new sun damage or untreated triggers.

We layer in topical recommendations and trigger education to maintain results long-term.

I was truly blown away after my appointment here. Every single person I interacted with, from the front desk to the providers who handled my treatments, was incredible! They made me feel so welcomed and cared for, and were both informative and genuinely kind. The space itself is spotless, cozy, and easily the most inviting place I’ve ever been for Botox. Michelle did my Botox and she was amazing! I also had a hydrafacial and dermaplaning, and I already can’t wait to come back again and again. You will not regret booking here!
