Surface quality changes how every other concern reads.

What it is

Rough texture describes uneven surface quality, where the skin lacks the smooth, polished appearance of healthy young skin. It's caused by accumulated dead cells, sun damage, dehydration, and natural aging.

Rough texture is often the surface signature of multiple underlying concerns. Treating texture often improves how every other concern reads.

Why Patients Seek Treatment

Clients come in wanting more polished skin. They often can't articulate the specific concern but notice their skin doesn't look the way they want it to. Resurfacing treatments produce visible improvement.

01

What Causes It

Several factors create rough texture.

Sun damage is the most common cause, breaking down collagen and roughening the surface over decades.

Slow cell turnover with age leaves dead cells on the surface longer.

Dehydration exaggerates texture by reducing the smoothness of the surface.

Genetic predisposition determines baseline skin texture quality.

Specific conditions like keratosis pilaris on the arms or seborrheic keratosis on the face can also contribute.

02

Common Signs

The skin feels rough or bumpy to the touch. Makeup may not sit smoothly. The face may look uneven in different lighting. Specific areas, particularly the cheeks, forehead, and chest, may show the most pronounced texture changes.

03

Why It Changes Over Time

Texture worsens gradually over decades. Sun damage, slowing cell turnover, and reduced collagen all contribute. Without treatment, texture becomes one of the more visible signs of aging.

With consistent professional treatment and skincare, texture can be improved significantly at any age.

04

How It's Commonly Addressed

Texture responds to multiple resurfacing modalities.

Fractional laser (Halo, Moxi) resurfaces the affected layers and stimulates collagen.

Microneedling (SkinPen) builds collagen and improves texture through controlled micro-injury.

Chemical peels resurface the surface layers with controlled exfoliation.

HydraFacial provides surface resurfacing and infusion.

Dermaplaning physically removes dead skin and peach fuzz.

How we approach rough texture

Texture is the foundation. Improvements here make every other concern look better.

For most clients, we layer modalities. SkinPen microneedling builds collagen for long-term improvement. Moxi resurfaces the surface for immediate brightness. The combination across three to four sessions of each produces dramatic change.

For deeper texture concerns, Halo replaces Moxi for more aggressive resurfacing. Halo has longer downtime (5 to 7 days) but produces results comparable to fractional CO2 with significantly less risk.

Ongoing maintenance combines HydraFacial every four to six weeks with daily skincare. The home regimen includes retinoids, vitamin C, and gentle daily exfoliation.

I was truly blown away after my appointment here. Every single person I interacted with, from the front desk to the providers who handled my treatments, was incredible! They made me feel so welcomed and cared for, and were both informative and genuinely kind. The space itself is spotless, cozy, and easily the most inviting place I’ve ever been for Botox. Michelle did my Botox and she was amazing! I also had a hydrafacial and dermaplaning, and I already can’t wait to come back again and again. You will not regret booking here!
