Body hair is more straightforward than facial hair. Fewer sessions, more predictable results, longer-term reduction.
Unwanted body hair includes leg hair, arm hair, underarm hair, back hair, bikini line, and other body areas. Most body hair is terminal (dark, thick) hair that responds well to laser hair removal.
Unlike facial hair, body hair is less hormonally driven and typically responds more predictably to treatment. Most clients see significant reduction within six to eight sessions.
Clients come in tired of shaving, waxing, or sugaring. They want a long-term solution. Laser hair removal produces dramatic reduction and significantly reduces ongoing hair management.
Body hair is largely genetic. Distribution patterns are inherited and remain relatively stable through life. Hormonal changes can shift body hair somewhat but typically less than facial hair.
Body hair patterns vary widely. Some clients have minimal body hair. Others have significant density across legs, arms, back, or torso. Underarm and bikini hair patterns are typically similar across most clients.
Body hair patterns remain relatively stable through life. Some shifting occurs with hormonal changes (puberty, pregnancy, menopause), but not dramatically.
With consistent laser treatment, most body hair can be substantially reduced for years. Touch-up sessions every one to two years maintain results.
Body hair responds primarily to laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal (Nd:YAG, alexandrite, diode, or combinations like GentleMax Pro Plus) targets melanin in hair follicles.
IPL (intense pulsed light) is similar but less powerful than laser. Used at home or in lower-end clinics.
Electrolysis can also be used but is much slower than laser for body hair.
Our primary tool is GentleMax Pro Plus. The combination of alexandrite and Nd:YAG allows us to treat across the full Fitzpatrick scale safely.
For most body areas, we plan six to eight initial sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart. The interval depends on the area: faster cycles for the underarms, longer for the legs.
We're rigorous about skin tone matching. Nd:YAG is our default for any client with Fitzpatrick 4-6 skin.
Most clients see substantial reduction by the third or fourth session. Final sessions clean up the most stubborn follicles.
