About this area

Why some hair growth is genetic and some is hormonal

Laser hair removal targets the pigment in the hair follicle. The laser energy converts to heat, which damages the follicle and prevents future hair growth. With enough sessions, most follicles in the treatment area stop producing hair permanently.

The technology works on most skin and hair combinations. The GentleMax Pro Plus we use covers a wider range of skin tones than older lasers, including darker skin that was previously difficult to treat safely.

How laser hair removal works across different skin tones

The hair follicle is the structure beneath the skin where hair grows. The visible hair is the shaft. The follicle itself sits below the surface and contains the bulge and bulb that drive hair production.

Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair shaft and conducted to the follicle. The heat damages the follicle without harming the surrounding skin.

How this changes over time

One of the few treatments that does exactly what its name suggests.

Hair grows in cycles. Only follicles in the active growth phase respond to laser treatment. This is why multiple sessions are needed: each session catches different follicles at the right point in their cycle.

Most clients see significant reduction after four to six sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Maintenance sessions every one to two years address the small percentage of follicles that remain active.

In Your 20s

Many clients start laser hair removal in this decade, often beginning with underarms or bikini. The long-term benefit compounds with each year that follows.

In Your 30s

Clients often add new areas in this decade. Some begin to schedule periodic maintenance sessions for previously treated areas.

In Your 40s

Perimenopause and hormonal changes can trigger unwanted hair in new areas, particularly the face. Treatment addresses these new concerns.

In Your 50s+

Most clients who've treated hair in earlier decades continue periodic maintenance. New areas may be added based on hormonal changes.

How we treat unwanted hair

We use the GentleMax Pro Plus laser, which combines two wavelengths to safely treat a wide range of skin tones and hair colors. We assess your skin type at consultation to determine the right settings.

Sessions vary in length depending on the area. Underarms might take five minutes. Full legs might take forty-five minutes. Most areas need four to six sessions for full reduction, spaced four to six weeks apart.

The treatment is well-tolerated. Most clients describe it as similar to a rubber band snap. We use cooling techniques and topical numbing for sensitive areas.

I was truly blown away after my appointment here. Every single person I interacted with, from the front desk to the providers who handled my treatments, was incredible! They made me feel so welcomed and cared for, and were both informative and genuinely kind. The space itself is spotless, cozy, and easily the most inviting place I’ve ever been for Botox. Michelle did my Botox and she was amazing! I also had a hydrafacial and dermaplaning, and I already can’t wait to come back again and again. You will not regret booking here!
